FAQ

I am always here to help. Reach out if you have any further questions.

What is a naturopath?

Naturopaths are qualified health professionals that view health holistically.

Naturopaths always aim to address the root cause of illness in the body.
The tools we use to heal include: herbal medicine, dietary changes, food as medicine, specific nutritional therapy & lifestyle advice.

Naturopathy aims to educate the person to look after their own health and the health of their family, minimising symptoms of any illness, supporting the body’s capacity to heal, and balancing the body so that illness is less likely to occur in the future.

How do online consultations work?

Online appointments are held via Zoom, a video meeting platform that is secure and easy to use. After booking your appointment you will receive a confirmation email that has instructions on how to meet me online. To prepare for the consultation I recommend downloading the Zoom app onto the device you are planning to use for the appointment.

What happens during an initial consult?

In an initial consultation, we will delve into your presenting issues to uncover the root cause of your discomfort. We will also chat about your personal medical history and family history.

Do you offer discounts or payment plans?

Yes, we offer both discounts for students and pensioners. We also offer payment plans to all our customers.

Are herbal remedies and supplements included in the cost of the first appointment?

No, any remedies prescribed in your appointments are at an additional cost. Pricing varies depending on what you need.

What functional testing do you offer?

Not all patients require functional testing. The suitability of testing is discussed in your consultation and recommended only if I believe it will be beneficial to your treatment.

Test kits are sent out via post, the patient is to collect the sample (urine, stool, or hair) and post it back to the laboratory. Test results are sent directly to me, a follow-up consultation is required to discuss findings.

The following tests are only available for Australian-based patients.

  • Hormonal health ~ DUTCH (dried urine sample) – $380 *

    • This test helps to identify hormonal imbalances that may be driving menstrual irregularities, fatigue, hormonal acne, low libido, mood issues, weight gain and poor sleep.

    • Tests levels of: cortisol, cortisone, cortisol metabolites, progesterone, androgens (testosterone), oestrogens, melatonin, organic acids.

  • Gut health ~ Complete Microbiome Mapping (stool sample) – $360 *

    • This tests helps to identify causes of digestive symptoms such as bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, and abdominal pain. Poor gut health can also contribute to fatigue, hormonal problems, headaches, immune issues and more.

    • Tests for: Parasites/Worms, Opportunistic Bacteria, Fungi/Yeast, Bacterial Pathogens, Viral Pathogens, Beneficial Bacteria; plus GIT markers inc. Faecal Occult Blood, Calprotectin, Pancreatic Elastase, sIgA, Zonulin, b-glucoronidase

  • Heavy metals & nutrients ~ Hair tissue mineral analysis (hair sample) -$120

    • This test assesses levels of nutrients, heavy metals and other elements. This is used to determine mineral deficiencies and excesses. Minerals play a role in mental health, energy, immune function, metabolism, cardiovascular health and nervous system function.

    • Tests levels of: 15 nutrients, 7 toxic elements, 14 additional elements

    • Includes: aluminium, lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium

I do not live in Australia, can I still have an appointment with you?

It depends where you are based. At this current stage, spaces for international consultations are limited due to timezone differences & accessibility to herbs/supplements.

If you live internationally and are interested in booking an appointment please send me an email to confirm viability.

Do you offer consultations in Portuguese?

Yes, Laila offers consultations in Portuguese if you should prefer.

What are your qualifications?

I hold a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and am a member of the NHAA, ANTA and WNF.

Do you offer private health rebates?

As of April 2019, health insurers are no longer allowed to offer

rebates for naturopathy. This ruling will be up for review by the government in 2021, I am hoping health fund rebates will be re-instated in the near future.
